Here I am on yet ANOTHER online blog/internet journal/cyber diary of lifetime moments. Moved here from lj...we'll see if things go any better this time resisting the Facebook Code of Privacy Piracy. I WANT to believe that there will one day be an internet site that can offer genuine security to its members and NOT rifle through their every post in search of an opportunity to link it to somewhere else, but...well, yea. Seems like the internet is just determined to close that already-anorexic communication barrier and make it impossible to avoid people, no matter how many continents you might put between yourself and them or how many Skype calls you blatantly ignore.

At least DW's got one thing going for it... That is, it shares an acronym with one of my most beloved childhood cartoon characters. ^_^

Hey tigsara03, welcome to Dreamwidth! I'm here via the Latest things page. Dreamwidth definitely takes its users privacy seriously (see the Privacy Policy. And while you're there, I love the Guiding Principles.) DW has never, will never, use ads or depend on ad revenue, so you're safe from the site automatically picking out key words. You can also go to the privacy tab on your account settings and exclude yourself from various site searches.

If you are looking to get oriented in the general community, or just to connect, you might enjoy stopping by synecdochic's weekly Monday Pride Thread. It's a place to post about your accomplishments from the past week and to cheer other people on. You can find yesterday's post here.

There's also a 'Follow Friday' feed for, you guessed it, Fridays. It's a great place to go looking for comms and people you might want to watch. What else? kate has put together an excellent general Dreamwidth starter kit.

Hope that's enough to give you a taste of what's out there. Moving to a new place can be intimidating (I know; I just moved into a new apartment), but I think you'll find it worth your while.
